Closing, we're using using Gerrit as code review tool and deploying a Gitlab instance only for its VCS-Browser capability is way too overkill.

That indeed wouldn't make too much sense. Thus I created https://redmine.documentfoundation.org/issues/3413 proposing to move more stuff there, so it is not overkill anymore. I actually think that their workflow is better for most things.
