Description

Reddit is a huge community for sharing tech news and help. A lot of software has dedicated subreddits, such as Vim (https://www.reddit.com/r/vim) with over 25,000 subscribers.

The LibreOffice subreddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/libreoffice) only has 977 subscribers, which is tiny for a project of LO's significance. Grow this community gradually by:

  • Posting stories more often there
  • Answering questions from users
  • Contributing better CSS
  • Applying to become a mod

I (/u/themikeosguy) have now been made a moderator on /r/libreoffice after answering some questions and helping to clear up spam. Aim is to encourage more discussion of LO as a project and community and not just use the subreddit as a Q+A forum.

Done some more work on this: proper banner, better icons, better themeing. Also posting more community and news-related content.

100 new subscribers since I became a moderator. Steady growth, if not amazing, but hopefully the newer design and variety of articles will keep this going.

124 new subscribers since I became a mod three months ago

Is this still an ongoing topic that consumes lots of work? Seems you invested some time here and got results, and I tend to close the ticket and merge it with general marketing tasks
If Reddit is a specific site you want to have on the list, let me know :-)

The Reddit community is still small (1,158 subscribers, 325 referrals to blog posts in last month) but growing. Others are posting news and questions so it's not something I have to devote lots of time to -- I just check it once per day. So let's close this now, and keep it as part of general marketing activity along with social media.
