Full details:

The website for this – https://www.berlinerstiftungswoche.eu – is bafflingly vague, and doesn't even say where it takes place. From looking at reports from recent years, it appears that there may be no central event, but charities in Berlin open their own doors for visitors. That is obviously a major limitation for us.

Given how vague the site is, with little information, I suggest that I contact the organisers, saying a bit about who we are, and asking what would be possible for us -- eg a stand somewhere, or a presentation, or workshop.

On a related note, if a few people from Munich/Hamburg etc. end up going to this, maybe we could combine it with a DE community meetup, like we did in June last year...

Sounds great!
From what I remember, indeed a local presence and a place to host
events was very much desirable.
The past years, we had some virtual project ("Poke us on IRC") or
something and paid ~250 € for being listed, but I don't see a point - no
local presence, not enough people in Berlin to run something for a
longer period of time, so unless we can combine it with the community
meeting as you proposed, I tend to just not participate and rather run
something our own

Keep in mind that April is the time of the annual report finalization,
so at least my time for travel and events is limited - therefore having
something done ourselves later the year might be a better option indeed

But let's sound out what they offer and then decide :-)

I contacted them, so I'll post in the ticket as soon as I hear from them.

So I just got a call from someone at the Berliner Stiftungswoche. Summary of what he explained:

  • There's no central location in Berlin - charities organise their own events
  • We don't have to be there in person; we could offer an online workshop, for instance
  • Or we could simply use their website to introduce ourselves

I forgot to ask about pricing, though, so I'll chase that up now...

Thanks! I think it was 250 € or so, and I'm not sure if this is worth it
actually. For this amount of money, all three of us could go somewhere
and host an event... but I'd leave the decision to marketing in the end

Yep, just got this info from them:

Do you have any gut feeling?
My take is to spend the 250 € otherwise - but then, if you have two or
three concrete ideas to offer them and see if they are willing to do
instead of materials...

Agreed. If we were desperate to get our name known amongst other Stiftungen it might make some sense, but as our bigger priority is growing our own community, we can probably put that money to better use.
