  • Assignee changed from Christian Lohmaier to Jean Spiteri

I'm taking this off Christian Lohmaier's list and assigning it to myself.

  • URL set to https://www.libreoffice.org/about-us/privacy

The page mentioned by the user is a copy of the LibreOffice website's privacy policy.

If anyone has access to the CMS running the libreoffice.org website, there's a draft version of the policy that includes a set of updates to have progress on this. After discussions with Christian Lohmaier however, I'm not sure he sees them as fitting for the purpose. I'll leave them there for anyone who has access and who might give feedback about them.

I'm not setting the status to 'Feedback' since it hasn't been pushed to the official website.

We will roll out an updated Privacy Policy this month - not sure in
which way this will be displayed there. Can you check again when the new
page is rolled out so we can see if there's a need for further refine this?

I have rechecked and this issue is still valid.

I am not sure if this text can be adjusted actually - it's an IFrame
produced by Matomo itself, so the page CSS does not apply.

Florian Effenberger, that is true. However, Mamoto has introduced, in an update, the ability to customise that iframe. I have created a test page (containing an extract of the policy), https://www.libreoffice.org/about-us/privacy-test. Feel free to check it out. In my opinion, it gets closer even though not 100% identical.

Thanks for that!
Can you share with Cloph how you did this, so he can adjust the official
page?

Oh, and please do take the test page offline - it is much better having
this on a staging instance than the offical page, thanks! :)

I can do it myself if a full permission is not needed. And I've deleted the page both from draft and the published version. Thanks for your feedback.

Best is to poke Cloph, he can guide you how to fix it :-)

Florian Effenberger, I've talked with cloph and he does not seem to like it. In reality, all I need is permission from someone in the foundation (because the privacy policy is a formal page) to actually change it. It might be that I am overemphasizing the importance of this change (since it won't change the text), it might be that I can just do it. In other words, I can do it myself if someone tells me to go ahead.

Is there a screenshot of your change/a page to test?

The font is the same for me, just the color has been slightly changed
(black to gray) to fit the page - however, the text is now English
instead of the user's locale. :-)

Florian Effenberger, first of all, sorry for pushing the wrong iteration of the page. I did not pay enough attention to it and missed somethings. I have pushed the latest one on that page now.

1. Yes, the color is identical to the rest of the page.
2. The font is now sans-serif (which is the font used by the site if Lato does not load - Lato does not seem to be possible to use)
3. The font size is also equal
4. Clarification - The current does not show the opt out notice in the user locale, it is fixed to be German. I have now updates the proposal to be in German as well.
5. The border is separate from the proposal. I thought that adding the border gives a much better look but it can be removed.

Ok, not a blocker :-)

Do you know what this is like on the current page? IMHO always the
user's locale? If so, can we have it in your iteration as well?

I'm sorry but somehow I lost this reply. Regarding the opt out notice, as I said in the current it is German regardless of user locale. I can check out if it can be adjusted to always show in the user locale but I think it's better if all the text is in one language (of course it would be better if the Policy and the notice were both in English but that's another thing).
