That link was decommissioned years ago. Current welcome mail suggest to mail the -request address instead. (That said, I believe membership is only effective once the MC publishes the list.)
Thanks for the information, Guilhem!
I'm glad this detail is now updated, because I found the link in the last such e-mail I received from about a year ago (2024-07-17), which must've been already outdated information at the time:
All of you are therefore invited to subscribe to this new mailing list at
https://lists.documentfoundation.org/mailman/listinfo/tdf-internal
That's correct, unfortunately the template wasn't updated when the links where decommissioned and no one noticed at the time.
I tried the suggested method, assuming the address is tdf-internal-request@l.tdf, right?
This is what I got back, in the form of a Message not delivered reply:
554 5.7.0 Reject, id=3103508-17 - spam
I wonder why a mail sent from within Gmail would be considered spam, could you check that?

Yes.

The only thing I see is that the messaged just so slightly exceeded the threshold and was rejected. There is no detail how the spam score was computed. You might want to forward the mail to hostmaster so it can be replayed. And also sent the mail again (possibly slightly adjusting the wording) as there was a single request AFAICT.

FWIW a mail from a gmail.com address (not spoofed and originating from Google's servers) is in no way a guaranty of not being spam. Spammers understand that it's not possible to block large email providers or frequently used domains, so many have resorted to using that. In fact these days most of the AskLibO spam come from people registered with a gmail.com address.
