The enabling/disabling of AutoSpellcheck is available only in the standard toolbar and it should also be available in the tools menu.

My preference for its layout is
Tools
Spelling
Spelling and Grammar (F7)
(x) AutoSpellcheck [was keeping this as is, as AutoCorrect is kept in that way and many will not agree for its changing]
