closedfind volunteers for HiDPI bug verification

Description
With more and more systems running on HiDPI, we should seek for volunteers who have hardware to test on, and specifically test, report and verify issues with high resolutions

Any progress here, Robinson? Anything you need from me? Organizing those devices can take some time as it involves shipping, so I recommend looking into it sooner than later :-)

Ayup -- here's some quick research on the hardware. PPI above 200 would be ideal. MacBook Pros have 220PPI+ :
Hi-def monitor for $270

4K, 3840 x 2160 Resolution (UHD)
28" diagonal
sqrt(3840^2 + 2160^2)/28 = 157.35051 PPI
Apple Thunderbolt display
$1000
http://www.amazon.com/Apple-Thunderbolt-Display-MC914LL-VERSION/dp/B004YLCKYA/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1425306694&sr=1-1&keywords=retina+display
27-inch IPS display with LED backlighting
2560 x 1440 Resolution; 16:9 Aspect Ratio
sqrt(2560^2 + 1440^2)/27 = 108.78553 PPI
Apple iMac Retina 5K
$2,500
sqrt(5120^2 + 2880^2)/27
217.57107 PPI
Newer MBP:
Starts at $2k, depending upon specs.

15.4-inch IPS Retina Display, 2880-by-1800 resolution
sqrt(2880^2 + 1800^2)/15.4 = 220.53462 PPI
Thinkpad T550
Starts at $1300 with max-PPI screen
Display
15.6" HD (1366x768), anti-glare, 200 nits, 350:1 contrast ratio
15.6" FHD (1920x1080), anti-glare, 300 nits, 400:1 contrast ratio
15.5" 3K (2880x1620), anti-glare, 350 nits, 1000:1 contrast ratio, IPS
15.5" 3K (2880x1620), 315 nits, IPS, multitouch screen supports 10-finger gesture
sqrt(2880^2 + 1620^2)/15.5
213.18456 PPI

Just talked w/Joel about testing HIDPI bugs. Proposal of starting with a MBP for me and passing my current mac mini to someone else in QA for triage, bibisecting on OSX, etc. He'll get back to me with more info.

Joel says board decided not to go w/MBP. Asked what our game plan is for HIDPI testing.

Joel says to punt on HIDPI; perhaps a volunteer will have a MacBook and can do some of the testing. Asked me to keep this issue on my radar, so leaving it on my plate and lowering priority to 'low'.

- Subject changed from QA: Procure a set of HIDPI displays for testing purposes to find volunteers for HIDPI bug verification
Let's revisit this during the next team call
It seems that there aren't those many bugs at the moment, so this indeed is just a low priority
What could be done - but on a low priority - is:
- go to the user list to try to find someone;
- look at the bugs and try to "cross post" (get reporters of the different bugs to confirm each others bugs)
Then we can take it from there at a later stage. No urgency at all, and no requirement to buy new hardware.

Currently 13 open bugs with 'hidpi' in the Summary:
And 15 open with 'hidpi' in a Comment:
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/buglist.cgi?list_id=569109&longdesc=hidpi&longdesc_type=allwordssubstr&product=LibreOffice&query_format=advanced&resolution=---
We can continue to monitor these bugs, and see if there's ever a rapid increase in bugs.
