Description

Recently I made this infographic for donations:

https://blog.documentfoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/donate.png

An idea came up at LibOCon: create something similar, but targeted at the community, and showing quick ways to get involved, eg:

  • Write code for an Easy Hack
  • Update documentation
  • Translate the interface

...and so forth. We could reuse some of the icons that we've bought as well. Putting this in as Qlater as I won't have time to work on it for a while, but it's a good idea that I don't want to forget.

  • File Get_involved_infographic.pdf added
  • Status changed from New to In Progress

Created the first draft -- attached to this ticket. And sent to the marketing-priv@ list for feedback.

So I got some feedback from the list, and we can make multiple infographics with "4 ways to do X" on various topics, with changing colour schemes, eg:

  • "4 ways to spread the word" (Twitter, Facebook, Google+, real life)

Or something targeted at developers:

  • "4 ways to dive into the LibreOffice code" (Easy Hacks, code pointers on
    Bugzilla, OpenGrok etc.)

I'll work on them next week. Then we have a bunch of infographics we can use over time, and share them with NLPs for translation.

Three infographics created (attached) based on feedback from marketing-priv@. These cover various areas of the project - we can add more for translations, QA, documentation etc.

I should have noted earlier - apologies - that setting out a more precise target audience might make sense.
"showing the community quick way's to get involved' ... isn't the community involved per definition :) ?

Ah well, for on the marketing mailing list then ;)

Yeah, I mean the wider open source community -- doesn't make sense to target existing members of our community :-) With the infographics we can show FOSS supporters and LibreOffice users that they can get involved using bite-sized jobs. It doesn't have to be big...

So I posted the first one back in September: https://blog.documentfoundation.org/blog/2018/09/11/four-ways-you-can-make-libreoffice-even-better/

Then I used another one for the Month of LibreOffice: https://blog.documentfoundation.org/blog/2018/11/08/month-of-libreoffice-november-2018-one-week-in/

The other two are ready to use here:

I will post them on upcoming Sundays, as those are good times to reach people on social media. And I'll post the ODG files on the localisation list for translation. So this task is done now – closing.

Just realised that LibreOffice's export hasn't worked correctly there and bits are cut off – will redo the files for when I post them on Sundays...
