Description

Hello,

some documentation is present in the Extensions/Templates web site. Ex: the 18 BASIC RefCards (see https://extensions.libreoffice.org/en/extensions/show/777 for a sample), which I wrote.

IMO, these documents have NOT their place in this site. They are neither extensions nor templates. I don't know of any sensible user who'd open the Extensions pages and look for such documentation documents. Their logical place is... the Documentation pages of the LibreOffice website.

BTW, the said RefCards are a work of mine, and where uploaded to the Extensions pages by a member of TDF. I had asked a few times to remove them from there, but got no response to date.
These are uselessly cluttering my extensions list and are overly complicated to update.

Can someone help and move these documents to where they pertain, eg, the Documentation > Macros pages? Please.

Thanks!

The reference cards are currently availbale in the website Documentation [2] as indicated, but redirects to the Extension service.

Subcategory "Documentation" was added to the extension/template infra to benefit the upgrade/versioning of the service. Unfortunately it never never raised to the level of Template or Extension, being submerged as subcategory, polluting lists. This generated disatisfaction among documentation producers and publishers.

Also, file replacement was feature not enabled in the original documentation website at [1], and since in the meantime it got enabled, it is now easy to update documents such as the nice BASIC cards. To reduce work overhead in replaceing/updating the cards, it is important to set a permanent name for each card so it can be replace without the need to update all linked pages.

To update documentation in website [1] requires access to Silverstripe, and I can add jfnif as page editor.

The folder "Files / Uploads / Documentation / en / MACROS / RefCards" has some older cards, and can be wiped out.

Hello Olivier,

thanks for the detailed response. I've now got a clearer view of the in-and-outs.

Yes, give me the page editor access and I'll have a go at updating the refcards.

I understand the first step on my side is to give a permanent name to each RefCard. I'll do that on my machine, then update the documentation page.
As for wiping the older cards, ok for me. I don't know if I can do that myself when I have access to the documentation pages edition.

Thanks again,

Please ask for support in getting access to silverstripe CMS.
