Etherpad needs a sane startup script and monitoring. The startup script sometimes doesn't work at all, and if MySQL is upgraded or Etherpad crashes for whatever reason, it is not started again. script. Right now, it's manually invoked via bin/run.sh. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Etherpad-liteInstallation#Etherpad_Lite_as_a_service.28upstart.29 might help
