Description

From the homepage, the default clickpath to our bugzilla is:
  1. homepage: http://www.libreoffice.org/
  2. Community->Testing/QA: http://www.libreoffice.org/community/qa/
  3. File a Bug (Bug Submission Assistant): http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/feedback/
  4. create a bug report: https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/bug/
  5. see "The BSA is currently broken. Please use https://bugs.freedesktop.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=LibreOffice&bug_status=UNCONFIRMED instead. We are sorry for the inconvenience." with the link not clickable.
An alternative clickpath is:
  1. homepage: http://www.libreoffice.org/
  2. Help->Bugzilla Submisssion Agent: https://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/bug/
  3. see "The BSA is currently broken. Please use https://bugs.freedesktop.org/enter_bug.cgi?product=LibreOffice&bug_status=UNCONFIRMED instead. We are sorry for the inconvenience." with the link not clickable.
A few notes:
  • The clickpath is way too long.
  • Note that step 3 of the first clickpath advertises to lead to the BSA, which it doesnt.
  • The BSA advertises a wrong link and is nonclickable,
  • The BSA has been down for some time now.
For the short term we should at least:

@Robinson: Can you self-assign this if it fits in your todo-list lest floeff protests on other priorities?

Yep, see bug #1047 (partial dupe)

Great. FWIW, BSA has not been functional for extended amounts of time now, so IMHO lets prioritize not linking to it in the first place over linking from it to the new bugzilla. (The useless extra step to the BSA isnt a good thing anyway.)

I beg to differ here. We either divert people temporarily from the BSA because it does not work (and we fix it), or we simply don't use a BSA at all, otherwise why having a BSA in the first place?

What difference does this make for the immediate action needed? We will replace links to the BSA with links directly to bugzilla in both cases.

The question of "Should we have a BSA at all, if its such trouble to keep it running?" is a valid one, esp. in the light of us now being able to streamline our own Bugzilla experience to be less horrible in itself -- but that is independent of what we need now: not linking to the broken BSA. So lets not mix that in here for now.

Okay - the timing was not overly clear at first ; +1 from my side. As for your other comment, it would indeed be interested in studying how to turn our own BZ into a real user friendly platform.

Thanks!

Just quickly, am on the road: Yep, the BugZilla dupe is highest prio atm
- BSA is in the works, Rob or Cloph (need to look up) are working on
getting it done as it now resides on the same machine as BZ

Links are now redirected. Cloph mentioned that it'll take a little time for DNS to propagate.

Done

The url get-help/bug is already pointing to Bugzilla, so I just hid this entry on the list.

Marking as Resolved (feel free to reopen if there's more to do)
