improve Get Involved pages

Target version:
Team - Q2/2019
Description
Some ideas from our Tirana meeting are:
- get involved page with pictures? be careful with infra at least, might not scale
- dd conrete proposals how to contribute -> easy hacks for non-code topics
- mention the impact of work (millions of users, blogpost read by 20k+ visitors); for infra, you can do things on large scale
Just a thought on this: we should definitely implement some of these ideas, and perhaps on the individual pages under the "Improve it" menu on the website.
But for the general "Get involved" page, before I dive in, I want to see what progress Redon is making with his "What can I do for LibreOffice" website. Depending on the outcome, it could be a good replacement for the "Get involved" page in general...
- Subject changed from improve Get Involed pages to improve Get Involved pages
- Target version changed from Q1/2019 to Q2/2019
The "What can I do for LibreOffice" website seems to have stalled; I've chased up the Albanian community handling it several times, but nothing...
Meanwhile, for improvements to our existing Get Involved page, one idea from the German community meeting was to include small example tasks underneath each section -- something you can do in 20 minutes. Let's implement this on the English site as well. Also, as per the description:
- mention the impact of work (millions of users, blogpost read by 20k+ visitors); for infra, you can do things on large scale
Putting this up on my todo list, to work on next week...
- Related to Task #2872: Einstiegsaufgaben "Easy Hacks" added
Ideas from the German community meeting in Essen:
- Proof-reading, updating and translating FAQS: https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Category:FAQ
- Upvoting well-written questions on Ask LibreOffice (or even answering them)
- Translation: comparing English websites with other versions, to see if others are missing anything
- Marketing: updating flyers and infographics
I'll ask on the projects list for additional ideas now, especially for QA and design, then start adding them to the Get Involved page
- Status changed from New to In Progress
Also, the "What can I do for LibreOffice" website is now ready to go live, but the Albanian community wants to help with launch promotion, so will do that next week too.
- Status changed from In Progress to Closed
I've added some "bite size tasks" (like Easy Hacks) in a box to the top of the Get Involved page:
https://www.libreoffice.org/community/get-involved/
That also includes Buovjaga's suggestion for QA, and I've also mentioned in the Infra section that we have large-scale stuff, so it's a good way to get experience. So that's all the ideas in this ticket implemented - closing now. We can revisit with new ideas in the future, of course...
