Description

Please see https://github.com/LibreOffice/core/commit/60cd850d672bc1dcc3eb24adfffa7a6ab98a44bd for the currently used icons.

The problem with these are that they’re not Tango-compatible, the “X” graphic is not aligned, and the grey icon (for non-mouse-hover state) is misleading as one can think the feature is disabled. It needs to be dimmed out instead of being grayscale.

@Adolfo, not clear what you mean when you say not-aligned? Icons are positioned to the same location on the thumbnail view container, and the two modes line up when toggled on mouse over. I could agree that the color symbology of the two different icons might be skewed, but it is pretty clear that when toggling to RED on mouse over, that is an alert that clicking will delete the thumbnail view. Should there also be a tool-tip--"Click to remove this preview"?

I mean that the X inside both icons is not in the exact same position in both icons (but not only that: they are not even of the same width), so when you hover it in Start Center it looks like it’s “dancing”, which is incorrect — only the background should change on mouse hover. That is because one of them is not derived from the other.

WRT the tooltip, I will submit a separate bug report to Bugzilla.

Hmm, that would be a distraction. But, on Windows 7 sp1, 64-bit with
Version: 4.3.0.4
Build ID: 62ad5818884a2fc2e5780dd45466868d41009ec0

as well as with
Version: 4.4.0.0.alpha0+
Build ID: c2fd8c4492e9eb12375f78ceb188c87d8fac41b7
TinderBox: Win-x86@39, Branch:master, Time: 2014-07-27_03:39:57

the icons are spot-on aligned! So, is it a GTK+ UI widget issue? Which OS and build are you working with?

I trust my eyes and my monitor. The platform does not matter here, as we’re talking about PNGs.

I would propose using the gnome close-window button, at least for now. It's darker and looks nice. It would also probably be better if the icon was only displayed with mouse-over.

I like that black icon, but since LibreOffice is going for a rather flat look is adapted it a bit.

Closing the old tickets; icon design should have been done and the workflow has changes too
