Details wll follow, nothing to do yet.
I assume this will be handled externally, but might need some QA/RelEng feedback, thus assigning to Cloph and adding Robinson as watcher.
I will follow-up when I have more details.

We've got an existing bug re: crash reporting in Bugzilla: "Add a crash reporter (eg Breakpad)"

Will get details soon, in the meantime just for reference some notes:

I know that on Linux, there is ABRT:

  https://github.com/abrt/abrt/wiki/ABRT-Project

but I guess Windows is more important here. For Windows, I have just
found:

  http://code.google.com/p/crashrpt/

but apparently the webpage of the server side is dead, so it's hard to
see if it is free s/w, or proprietary (I fear the latter).

Similarly to the "Usability metrics collection", I expect that the
server side is the main problem here; but worth syncing with Stephan &
Caolan I guess.

I'll follow-up when I have the details, no need for action from your side atm.

it also was topic on ESC - cross platform there's google's breakpad http://code.google.com/p/google-breakpad/ , and that is used by mozilla for example https://crash-stats.mozilla.com/home/products/Firefox - for the server-side, to manage the reports they use Socorro https://wiki.mozilla.org/Socorro
Launchpad could also handle serverside stuff, but the focus there is on linux, and as mozilla also uses breakpad + socorro combination, that route seems best.

i.e. devs basically agreed on using breakpad, but of course that won't happen overnight :-)

ESC discussion yielded to:

Client Side:
Breakpad
https://wiki.mozilla.org/Breakpad

Server Side:
Socorro

Cloph cannot take care of the client side, and the server side is with Alex - so putting on my pile to re-assign and re-distribute then accordingly
