Description

I asked already on the website list weeks ago - please pull the updated Slovenian (sl) website translations from Pootle.
Thanks.

  • Assignee set to Christian Lohmaier

Assigning to Cloph, but he's a bit overbooked already, so cannot make an
ETA right now

  • Status changed from New to Feedback

The translations already have been updated on the site a while ago. (added them on Jan 19)

On the olddesign site, the only noteworthy change is the change of the "Goto page ..." string - but there you ignored the comment about the string needing to be in ascii quotes (you used »« quotes)

https://translations.documentfoundation.org/sl/website/translate/mysite-sl.po#unit=15057280

other updated translations are those for the FancyPage, but sl.libreoffice.org doesn't use that pagetype.

so please be more specific about what translations you are missing and think that should be there.

Ad quotes:
Whatever there is written in string comments - the only typographically correct quotes in Slovenian language are the ones I used. If you can make that string appear without any quotes then I can delete the quotes altogether. But the " quotes will not be used in my Slovenian translation as that is wrong.

Ad update:
I am missing the completely changed translation of language-name-translations I already did back in December: from "Angleščina" (for English) or "Slovenščina" (for Slovenian) I changed the language translation to another synonym form, i.e. "angleški" or "slovenski".
Thus instead of
Prenesite v Slovenščina jezik preveden vmesnik LibreOffice
(which is totally grammatically wrong) the string gets compiled into
Prenesite v slovenski jezik preveden vmesnik LibreOffice

This should be visible both in Draft and Saved sites of the new design (which is not seen by users, just by me editing this new design site which I would like to make public as soon as these translation/untranslatable string errors get fixed) and on the currently published old-design site. But it is not ... So I am deducing both the new-desing and old-design sites are using pre-December po files. That is why I entered this bug report.

Also, I now see these strings get used by the English new-design site, too, so there I get (your website obviously recognizes Slovenian Firefox and offers Slovenian lang-pack):
Get LibreOffice interface translated in Slovenščina

Because of the English form (where this should now be transformed into "Get LibreOffice interface translated in slovenski" - missing the "jezik" word - I might even further change the system of these po strings translation, to add the "jezik" word to language names, i.e. "angleški jezik", "slovenski jezik" etc. and exclude it from the other part of string).

So, I would like you to investigate why old localization of lanugages in po files are used in new and old design Slovenian (and English) sites.

Furthermore, I have just updated mysite-sl.po and newdesign-sl.po in Pootle so that the "jezik" issue works nicely on the new design website.

So please pull latest translation for Pootle, if not for other reasons, because of this.

Just a quick update so you know we did not forget about you ;-)

Cloph is currently involved in maintenance of our infrastructure, which will bind resources for this week presumably, by migrating machines to new hosts
Sorry for the delay here, we'll get back to you as soon as possible

To avoid those sort of delays in the future, I'm also trying to spread Silverstripe knowledge a bit further: http://www.mail-archive.com/website@global.libreoffice.org/msg13796.html

you didn't read properly: The quotes of the html tag (or rather attribute) need to be part of the translation string - exactly for the reason to allow translators to use whatever quote they like for the text.

Langauge names don't come from individual translation files, but are always English and the respective's language own reading.

newsite translation has absolutely NOTHING to do with translations of the oldsites's strings.

There won't be separate language's translations and no special handling for the English string for grammatical issues that may arise just for the downloadbutton heading text, but I changed the translation for Slovenian to slovenski, so the translation can fit more easily

Anyway, then please write "slovenski" and not "Slovenski", it has to be a small letter.
I would still like to import fresh translation from Pootle because I did some changes just today.

There are few strings on the download page that I cannot find to translate as well:
"Download the Sourcecode"
"Download the SDK"
"SDK and Sourcecode"
"or newer required" (the version string for OSX, appears twice on each download page)

Work is carried out mostly, we need to wait for Pootle migration to be done, tentatively end of this, early next week - finally ;-)

Please cloph, just make this "Slovenski" hack into "slovenski" (not a capital letter).
Thanks.

removed the ucfirst function that made the first letter uppercase for the language - let's see who'll complain and whether I have to special-case stuff :-) - anyway, considering this one fixed now.

Thanks, workforme :D

Another thing to clear up: I have on the beta new site "Torrent" and "Podrobnosti" under every link on download pages and I remember manually changing those strings in Pootle to small starting letters as they should not be in capitals - is this the same thing? This is namely one of the reasons I asked so many times to pull fresh translation from there but obviously this might be caused by the same text function?

no, that is a matter of hanving changed in pootle, but not applied to website - changed those two to lowercase start manually now.

Hi,
I localized newly added strings in Pootle so do please pull the latest translation into website.
Also, the localized buttons in SilverStripe still appear in English (I did enter the Slovenian text in the new field in SilverStripe for both download pages).

Thanks,
Martin
