Task #1622
openShort Links for wiki (tdf.io)
0%
Description
Can we get a shortlink "generator" for the wiki?
Like:
tdf.io/w/ARTICLENAME
-->
wiki.documentfoundation.org/ARTICLENAME
But also
tdf.io/w/index.php?diff=118461&oldid=118460
-->
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/index.php?diff=118461&oldid=118460
?!?

A solution could be these MediaWiki extension: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:ShortUrl (as used in, e.g., the Hindi Wikipedia) and https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Surl.

Not sure if this works with YOURLS - actually I think it doesn't, but asking Alex for feedback

Well it would be a simple rewrite_rule, or?

I thought on that too, but at the end it is a bit senseless: https://wiki.documentounfation.org/Special:ShortUrl/3tev5m is not realy shorter than https://wiki.documentounfation.org/Translating_LibreOffice (base36 code is only an example)
the whole domain is too long. In combination at the end (so like using https://tdf.io/w/3tev5m ) might be very useful. ;-)

I don't know how YOURLS works internally, whether a manual RewriteRule
would break things
Can you talk to Alex so we find out?

An alternative would be something like wiki.tdf.io/ShortUrl in a second
YOURLS instance (or RewriteRule, as subdomain is distinctive enough)
