Description
Triggered by https://twitter.com/SvenAERTS228/status/710158869536833536, I looked at the discoverability of ask.l.o on our website and found it at:
(get help -> community support)
http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/community-support/
behind a wall of text as third item. Given that:
- there are people active on ~40 topic on ask.libreoffice.org in 24 hours
- only some 10 threads are active on the the libreoffice user mailing list
- ask is more accessible: everybody knows how to ask a question, not everybody knows how to use a mailing list let alone navigate through vast amounts of dead (aka not interactive) documentation
I would like to suggest to have ask.l.o as the first entry there, before mailing lists and static documentation. Bonus points for killing the wall of text that wont be read and replacing it with something like:
http://www.libreoffice.org/community/qa/
- Status changed from New to Feedback
- Assignee set to Mike Saunders
I've redesigned that page now, using most of the existing text but simplifying it, breaking it up into boxes, and putting Ask.LibO first as mentioned. Looks a lot better than the wall of text before, definitely. If you have any feedback please let me know!

Awesome!
One tiny thing to keep an eye on is the prominent placement of the link to the #libreoffice-dev channel. While there is explicit text around it telling its for coders only, that is unfortunately often ignored. Lets see if we end up with lots of people nagging about their pet bugs without wanting to work on code themselves in the channel ...
- Status changed from Feedback to Closed
Yes, that's true about #libreoffice-dev -- I keep an eye on that channel, so if there's a problem we can change the text!

Why not make it "if you want to help improve quality and analyze bug reports, join #libreoffice-qa"? :) Would target a larger demographic.
