Task #2297
open"clone this bug" doesn't do anything useful anymore
0%
Description
on the bottom of the page of a bug, on the right, there is a "clone this bug" link.
It used to create a new bug with the same description with a note "* this bug has been cloned from bug NNNNN *", and put the same CC list, etc.
Now one is just dumped into the "choose a product" landing page, and nothing from the old bug is taken over.

invalid/works as desired.
Copying a bug from one project/cateogry to another is exactly what clone-a-bug is used for, so just pick a category (or the same if you choose so), and the cloned info will be preinserted.

No it doesn't. The cloned info is not preinserted.

More precisely, the component is pre-filled, but the description is not, the CC list is not, the version is not, ...

what is that then? (see image)

Further testing shows that:
- I get the (correct) result in your screenshot if I copy the URL of the "Clone this bug" link, remove "&format=guided" by and, and paste the URL in the address bar of the browser.
- Just clicking on "Clone this bug", I get the "choose product" screen, then "please check these frequently-reported bugs for duplicates", I click "my issue is not listed" and I get a mostly blank form.
Probably the easiest way to fix this is to not include "&format=guided" in the "Clone this bug" link?

further testing shows that I don't get the bug if I choose the project from the "all projects" list. I get it only if I choose the project from the "our most popular projects" section.
Meaning I have a working way to clone bugs, as long as I remember this quirk.

With Xisco wearing the hat on QA, asking him to have a look and, if he sees a need, propose a solution that either he or Cloph can carry out
(I don't use Bugzilla that often, so I can't make an educated guess on what's best.)

Hello Lionel,
it seems the 'clone this bug' button doesn't work with the guided page but it does with the normal one -> Once you click on 'Clone this bug', click on 'LibreOffice' from the list of all projects.

Yes, that's what I realised after further testing, and explained in comment 6. I still think it is a bug, although we have a workaround (namely take care to select from all projects list, not top of page). Availability of the workaround makes the bug far less severe.

Removing this from Xisco's pile to anyone who wants to take it - I assume (given seven months no complaints arose) this is not an issue anymore
If I'm wrong, please let me know :-)
