Description
For future releases, we would like to have not only the Google App store provided with fresh builds, but in parallel also F-Droid
This needs updating in the release documentation and of course doing :-)
Updated by Florian Effenberger over 7 years ago
There might be someone taking care of that already - before looking into doing yourself, can you check who's doing that, and how you could support them/co-maintain things?

Any feedback?

For the next F-Droid release, can we do some description text updates, like we've done on the Play Store:
LibreOffice is the best free office suite on the desktop, and is now available on Android as a native application. LibreOffice Viewer supports many document formats:
• Open Document Format (odt, ods and odp)
• Microsoft Office 2007/2010/2013 (docx, xlsx and pptx)
• Microsoft Office 97/2000/XP/2003 (doc, xls and ppt)LibreOffice Viewer also comes with a preview of the editing functionality, which is considered an experimental feature and not stable enough for mission critical tasks. (Visit the Settings to enable this feature.)
Feedback and bug reports are very welcome, to help developers improve the quality of the application on its way to being a full-featured editor. You can report bugs and attach files that trigger them here: https://bugs.documentfoundation.org
LibreOffice Viewer is using the same engine as LibreOffice for Windows, macOS and Linux. This, combined with a new front end based on Firefox for Android, reads documents similarly to LibreOffice on the desktop.
Also, I'm not sure if these fields are generated automatically in the listing from meta-data, but it'd be good to keep them:

Would be good to see some progress here before you (Cloph) go on vacation

Can you give me a summary of the status quo? What are the next steps to get this done?
I checked https://f-droid.org/en/packages/org.libreoffice.impressremote/ and did see no point of contact, so whom were you actually mailing? ;-)
Isn't it just that we have to follow https://gitlab.com/fdroid/fdroiddata/blob/master/CONTRIBUTING.md ?

Any update on that, Cloph?
Updated by Christian Lohmaier almost 7 years ago
sent a poke, this time with Flo in cc
yes, using the repo would be the case if the LibreOffice Viewer would use one of the default android build-methods, but AFAICT there is only ant, gradle or maven defaults, not something like LO does (./autogen.sh --someopts; make; and only then run gradle/build)

Cloph got finally in touch with the F-Droid maintainers
Builds need to be done by them due to signing and other requirements, so we can not handle this for them
LibreOffice for Android has a mix of build systems, so their default approach does not work
We need to write a reproducible "recipe" for the build in native code so they can automate it
They offer to, as an exception, sign our builds if they can reproducibly build it -> chicken and egg problem
Iterative process, aiming for end-Q1 or early-Q2

In Bug 103067 MTest31@outlook.com presented himself as F-droid packager and the last message was build error in https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=103442#c5.

Cloph, is there a status update? ;-)
Updated by Christian Lohmaier over 6 years ago
there's some probs with the android build atm, so some things need to be ironed out with updated gradle/build-deps first.
Updated by Florian Effenberger over 6 years ago
Is there anyone working on that, is help needed?
Updated by Christian Lohmaier over 6 years ago
Android build was fixed, and tinderbox does provide daily builds again

Great news! Do we need to ping the F-Droid people again or will they
build it automatically/take our build?

Everything should be ready from our side
When the next Android release will be done, Cloph will tag it accordingly, then we'll see if things at F-Droid work out (they should, if not we need to investigate)

Any updates in the meantime?

kinda blocked now due to non-release-worthy state atm

Has there been any update/progress?

This doesn't look done.
https://f-droid.org/de/packages/org.libreoffice.impressremote/ has version 2.2.3 (17) from 2015-10-26
while https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.libreoffice.impressremote has 2.3.0 from 2018-04-07
The LibreOffice Viewer seems to be even more recent at F-Droid

- Status changed from In Progress to Resolved
no progress on this since the viewer had all kinds of issues that prevented new release in the past, and for the remote there hasn't been a new release since the 2.4.0 that is available from fdroiod as well as playstore - since viewer was dropped for the moment, and impress-remote is in sync, I'm setting to resolved.

Is the Impress Remote mentioned in the release howto, so will it be
updated at F-Droid when a new release occurs?

android remote is in release-docs, F-Droid should be triggered when there is a new tag. Guess I can do a new release with updated translations in the next weeks.

Will happen this quarter, as new release needed due to Google Play API requirements anyways

FYI: a new release had been done and tagged sdremote-2.5.2 - so one prerequisite for a new build on fdroid done.
Updated by Florian Effenberger almost 4 years ago
- Target version changed from Q4/2020 to Recurring
Turning into recurring now
Maybe worth adding to the release howto?
Updated by Christian Lohmaier almost 4 years ago
- Status changed from In Progress to Closed
Not really recurring, as there are no regular updates for the impress remote. Closing for now, current version (2.5.2) is available on f-droid, and currently no release planed/scheduled.
