Provide gerrit backup to test database to git migration process
Added by David Ostrovsky almost 8 years ago.
Updated almost 8 years ago.
Description
Gerrit Code Review project is very close to announce the availability of its major release: 3.0.
The main feature in 3.0 is absence of the ReviewDb. The whole meta data (with very few excepions) is stored in Git.
All projects on googlesource.com, (among them gerrit-review), were migrated to NoteDB (git) months ago already.
To help gerrit project to validate the migration process database -> git, we need productive data.
Please, consider to provide backup for all libreoffice gerrit repositories and the database dump.
In case someone is curious, Dave's slides on that topic is here: [1].
Here is also the screencast of the gerrit hackathon achievements at Google@Munichis spring 2017: [2].

I think this is rather a task for our sysadmin, Guilhem. Guilhem, can
you have a look? We can talk about it during tomorrow's team call then.
I don't wanna see a production change before 5.4.0 (or rather 5.4.1) is out.
Furthermore account-merging-scripts, etc. would have to be adapted for the new storage stuff. You might want to rush it, but even if you had a demo right now, it wouldn't be deployed.
I rather have deployment of testing and then switching over starting in August, not right now.

Where in the issue description was I talking about any change to the running gerrit instance on gerrit.libreoffice.org? Don't change anything for the next xxx months (or years). My call was to help the Gerrit community by confidently providing production quality data to test migration from ReviewDb to NoteDb backend for upcoming version 3.0.
Wasn't clear to me either, probably due to the somewhat uncommon nature of this request :-P So as far as this ticket goes you'd like us to publish the gerrit repos as well as DB dump, but aren't asking us to set up a test instance; am I correct?
For the DB dump we'll first need to ensure that no confidential or private data is leaked. Will come back to you after that.
I'll ping all of you today or tomorrow, so we can move forward - couple
of caveats to consider indeed :-)
Mailed David privately, will follow-up when/what needs doing, until then
standby :-)
- Status changed from New to Closed
We cannot provide a full dump of the Gerrit database for various reasons
Mailed with David, closing this one now - nothing needs doing right now
