Description
There's a couple of more items that we could incorporate there and I wonder whether you could create an updated mockup, that Cloph in the end then could deploy into Silverstripe? I think if you test it out on the newdesign site first (to have the same code, Cloph can copy the current download page over yonder ;-) it's risk-free before we deploy:
- For the fresh version, how about an updated text?
"If you're a technology enthusiast, early adopter or power user, this version is for you!"
On the right side pane:
- let's add "Provide feedback" with a link to http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/feedback/
- likewise, let's add "Meet us at events" with a link to http://www.libreoffice.org/events/
- let's remove the "System requirements button", it's in there as text link as well, which is sufficient
- rename "Do more with LibreOffice" to "Discover LibreOffice"
- rename "LibreOffice for other operating systems" to "Choose operating system"
- likewise, "LibreOffice in other languages" -> "Choose language"
- turn the "Documentation" text link to a button
- remove the "Extensions" text link, as it's in there already as button
- rename "Download" heading to "Other downloads", and then
- remove "Download LibreOffice"
- remove "Release Notes"
- the following paragraph can be removed as well:
"For commercial support around LibreOffice see our list of certified partners.
LibreOffice Fresh is the stable version with the most recent features.
Users interested in taking advantage of our most innovative features should download and use our fresh version."
- Priority changed from Normal to High
I now have SSH access to the newdesign server – just need Cloph to copy the current download page over so that I can modify it.
- Status changed from New to In Progress
OK, this is all done:
http://newdesign.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/
Except for:
rename "Download" heading to "Other downloads", and then
remove "Download LibreOffice"
remove "Release Notes"
Those parts are automatically generated from the menu at the top, so to make those changes we'd actually have to start playing with the menu structure (and therefore the linked pages therein), which is risky.
I can, however, try to remove that "Download" section on the right completely -- I don't think there's anything in there we need, given that it's already a download page.

Ok. :-)

Sounds good - can you find a place for
Development versions
Portable versions & DVD Images
then on the page?

Yes, I've added them to the text links on the right:
http://newdesign.libreoffice.org/download/libreoffice-fresh/
So that's everything covered in your list -- any other thoughts? Otherwise we can pass this on to Cloph for implementation on the live website.
- Choose operating system points to an unrelated page
- the text "If you..." is a bit large -> can you make that slightly smaller?
Otherwise looks good, we can talk about it in Wednesday's call :)

OK, fixed both -- I knocked the "If you" text down from 22px to 20px, and it does indeed look better.
Sorry, I filed task #2345 before seeing this thread. Can I have the updated page copied over the Spanish site? I’d like to use it.
- Status changed from In Progress to Closed
This looks done now, good job!
We need to improve a bit the design (e.g. the yellow buttons), but the changes originally in the tender are all in
@Adolfo: If that is okay for you, before rolling out to other locales, I'd love to also finalize the donate page, there are few things pending. That avoids reinventing the wheel several times. :-) If there's an urgency on your side, let me know.
