Did you already write a draft text and send it for review? We utterly need a draft text to review. This is one of the things that can be prepared well in advance, without knowing anything from Tollef at all
Please draft a text/blogpost/website whatever you think is sensible, right now, send it for review; it can then always be corrected with a concrete migration date (which I still assume to be November 12)

The Document Foundation (TDF) announces the planned migration of its bugtracker from Freedesktop.org infrastructure to TDF-hosted machines. Migration will give us increased flexibility to extend and modify the underlying Bugzilla code to match our needs, integrate other TDF services with the bug tracker, and provide more granular services for projects such as the Impress Remote and the Document Liberation Project.

On January 24th, engineers from TDF and Freedesktop will disable access to the Freedesktop.org instance of Bugzilla for approximately 4 hours. Bugzilla will be inaccessible during the migration, both for entering new bugs as well as searching for and viewing existing reports. During this break we'll move all bugs related to LibreOffice, the Android and iOS Impress Remotes, and other TDF tools, and will concurrently migrate dependent infrastructure services such as the Bug Submission Assistant (BSA).

Once the migration is complete, Bugzilla will be accessible at https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/

Migration will commence at 15:00 UTC (16:00 CET, 10:00 EST, 07:00 PST, Link for all time zones(link: www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?iso=20150124T15)). Join us in the #libreoffice-qa channel on Freenode or on the QA Mailing List (https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/QA/Mailing_List) at any time during or after the migration for up-to-date information about our progress.

All current contributors to LibreOffice should read the following carefully to understand the changes that will take place.

=> Before the Migration

Before the migration date, please continue to file/update/edit LibreOffice bugs in the Freedesktop.org Bugzilla at https://bugs.freedesktop.org/

=> During the Migration

During the migration, the Freedesktop Bugzilla will be inaccessible. Don't be alarmed! This is part of the migration plan!

Feel free get a snack, have a beer, or just come say hi to us in QA/IRC. I suggest you do all three!

=> After the Migration

After the migration is complete, all LibreOffice bug activity will have been migrated to https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/. It will no longer be possible to file bugs or update existing bugs reports for LibreOffice, the Impress Remotes, or other TDF/LibreOffice projects at Freedesktop (a.k.a. FDO)

Old LibreOffice bug urls on FDO will be redirected to the new domain
e.g. https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=82623 -> https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=82623

During the migration of the bugtracker database, all user passwords will be cleared for privacy and security reasons. To regain access to your account, go to the new bugtracker homepage at https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/ and use the 'Forgot Password' link to set a new password for yourself.

Please make sure to update any existing bookmarks or saved urls you have on your local machine to point to the new url for the TDF/LibreOffice bug tracker!

not worth a separate issue: Decide on the shortcode for referencing issues - wiki page mentions blo#... but as the primary URL will be bugs.documentfoundation.org maybe tdf#... will be better? In any case → just one for the communication stuff

well there was a vote of a small number of users ages ago (~a year?) including libo, blo, tdf and so on...

/me still thinks that tdf# is the best solution as we are also tracking now document libration libraries (or on the long run) and who knows if there will be more applications under the TDF umbrella...

Yep, I updated the page to make this more clear -- tdf# makes the most sense as this will be a bug tracker that covers LibreOffice, the Impress Remote, (potentially) DLP Libraries, Documentation, etc.., etc..

Yes, I think a short sentence like "All users are required to reset their password before logging on to the new BugZilla." and some more explanation would be helpful

What about this? IMHO, we now have a fixed date, so we can start announcing it. Ideally we do this before Christmas? ;-)

I just updated the text to use the correct date and time. I'm ready to send out emails to various TDF lists, but I suggest we make the blog post first so I can point users to it for more information (one nice thing about a blog post is that we can update it later, if we think of something we'd like to add).

I recommend sending the mails out ASAP, so people are informed before Christmas

And of course, feel free to blog as well

I emailed all the usual lists. I asked sophie/joel for feedback about the best way to approach the users@ list --> I'm thinking that I'll just ask those users who have used Bugzilla in the past to read the blog post.

Silly me, it's already in #987 - guess this one then can be closed :)
